Default Roll bar and cage

Would love to see some pic of people's cars with roll cages or bars and how did you go about installing them?
I have a 1970 coupe that I need to install one in.
Thanks

Five-point bar in my '69 coupe, welded directly to the frame. I added a crossbar between the rear supports to use as a harness bar, not pictured here.

Did you completely fabricate the roll cage or did you buy as a kit.

Fabbed by a local cage builder.

Optical illusion. They are there, but in the pic you can only see the left side, and it looks like a half-cross bar through the main hoop going to the hoop-diagonal. They extend back through the rear fiberglass and then bend down to the frame on either side of the gas tank. You can see a gusset in the corner where it joins the main hoop. I wanted angled tubes from the hoop to the frame, but this is what I got instead. That's what I get for not learning to do it myself.

Thanks 69autoXr.
Did they install the bars with the body in place? If so how much of a hole did they have to cut out of the fiberglass to get in for welding?

Body on, gas tank out, I also had all carpet and interior panels pulled as the car was going through a fairly extensive renovation at the time, new windshield frame, body/flares/paint etc.

This was around 2002 or so, as such I'll have to guess 4-5" holes as I don't remember exactly.

Nice to see the diagonal cross brace in your hoop. Seen a few failures without them. Did the tech on new roll bars and stamped the numbers in them at SCCA events. We could not pass a bar without the diagonal cross brace. Here's what happens without one.

Thanks again.
How did you go about sealing the holes? Did you regales or what?

Yes I covered over the gaps with fiberglass as best I could. I'm sure someone more skilled at laying fiberglass could do a better job than I did, but it's under the carpet so at least it's not visible.

When I installed the carpet I had to cut it to go around the bars.

Agree, wouldn't install one without the diagnonal through the hoop. Hopefully I never have to test it though!

tight, but everything still fits back there. The birdcage was tied in also

Fuse box was relocated and a vintage air (heater) was used to be able to route the tubes through here. these bolts were temporary

This was all done with the body on so I opted to not do any mount at the kick panel so I wouldnt have to cut a monster hole in the floor to access the frame. Body is off now so Ill be adding one.
Tubing is 1.75x.090 chromo
