Default 68 rear Diff bushings

I am going to try to replace my rear differential carrier to chassis bushings. Anyone have experience with replacing these. Also I was advised to avoid the poly type bushings. Not sure why and have only seen poly type replacements for sale.

I am a big fan of poly bushings but I shied away from using them last spring for motor mounts when I pulled the L-82 for a rebuild and have had a poly differential carrier bushing sitting in my garage for years now since any engine mount/transmission mount that are poly will transmit more vibration than rubber. I would go rubber.

If you mean the front snubber bushing, the poly versions are not made correctly (too large). Use rubber.

If you mean the two cross member bushings, there's a 99.9% chance they don't need changing. I've yet to see one that's worn out.

The poly bushings have no give to them and can rip the bracket loose from the crossmember.

The correct bushing kit with rubber cushions and bolts can be found here:

http://willcoxcorvette.com/product_i...oducts_id=5391

Replacement instructions can be found here:
http://willcoxcorvette.com/repairand...lp.php?hID=239

If you are talking about the end bushings on the crossmember you can find those at this link
http://willcoxcorvette.com/product_i...oducts_id=5388

If you are working on the crossmember bushings, once the cross member is out of the car we use a press to remove and install the bushings. If you need more help with that just post again.

Thanks for the reply and the diagram. Thats just what I needed. Doesn't look too bad to replace. Funny most of the corvette parts guys are selling poly but a lot of folks say they are too large. I'll stick with rubber.
