stroker kit vs. crate
I was looking to get a zz4 crate but I was reading in posts from the past that a stroker kit with good heads will produce about 350hp to 400hp. Is this true and or worth it?

ZZ4 is about 350 HP my personal preference would be a 383 buildup only if you can find a good high performance engine builder. :D

Also look at the HT 383. It has a forged crank and roller cam, and after warranty would make a very solid foundation for a 500+ hp engine. If I had to do it all over again I would have bought one to start with.

Re: stroker kit vs. crate (Fevre)
Go for the best of both worlds. I was going to go this route but I think I'm just going to do a ZZ4 w/Hotcam setup and save a few $$$.

Re: stroker kit vs. crate (Vfastboy 73)
ive always built all of my motors since i was 15 but lately seeing these zz4 motors run at the track they really impress me...ive had 383 350 327 406 283 377 but for the money and a warrantee the zz4 would be a good way to go.It really all depends on what your looking for.

Re: stroker kit vs. crate (Fevre)
:yesnod: Fevre is spot on. HP Chevy magazine (I think?) has been doing a continuing article of a HT383 build up.
With TFS 215 heads, a cam, and performer RPM intake, they're getting 500 ft/lbs of torque.
This is truly rocking for a streetable SBC and is the path I've decided on! :blueangel:
