Jimmie Johnson’s resto-mod Stingray may be the coolest Corvette at SEMA
One of the latest Corvettes to be restored by Johnson, this Stingray features both exterior and interior updates, and an all-new Gen V LT1 crate engine, which the folks at Chevy are making available for $11,000 for the wet sump version and $11,250 for the dry sump.

Other than his name being on the title and writing a big check to those guys that actually built it, JJ didn't have much to do with this car.
Very nice car though. Wonder what they did with the vacuum headlights and wiper door.

So after you put $100,000 into a $10,000 car you still end up with a $10,000 car.

What is great about 379 ci and only 460 HP? If I was making $12 million just driving and another 30+ in advertisements and speaking I think I would have something a lot nicer!

Oh, I just went to forbes site and they were a little more conservative on his annual earnings.. only $23.5 million a year

Just a nice cruiser for a racer gets his speed thrills elsewhere. Probably like many just likes the looks of the car wants it to drive more like newer cars. Jay Leno was paid 36 million dollars a yr and Oprah made worlds more money then that. George Foreman was paid 230 million when he sold the rights to the George Foreman grill besides the money he had already made on it far more money then he ever made boxing, was paid very well to do the Mienke muffler commercials.
Danika Patrick the media creation. Go kart driving champion as a teenager. After that In three yrs of formula ford racing in Europe had a second place finish. Handed the very best indy car team Rahal/Leterman never won a race for them then went to another team won one race in Japan. 7 yrs of indy car racing one win, now driving stock cars no wins. Look at all the commercials she has been given to do with no real winning record whatsoever. There's a woman has won 14 championships in SCCA racing no one even knows her name. But then she has never done any modeling like Patrick does not have her looks. Im all for people making good money but what happened to you had to do some winning to get good driving jobs or be kept on a team. All Patrick is doing is make women look like losers not winners.

I don't care who built it or how much was spent, I simply like what they've done. There is a place up thos way that caters to NHL hockey players that does a lot od '60 Corvettes and Camaros among other vintage muscle. Renos start at $100k. The workshop is amazing, it is so clean that I felt like taking my shoes off.
It's great to see our C3's getting more positive attention from the high end resto crowd.

Nice car, looks to be well done.
Its his money, if he wants to spend more on one than it's worth, how does that make him any different than most of the rest of us?

I was there at the SEMA GM media dinner Monday night when they unveiled it. Jimmie was there. The car was built by GM to display what could be done with the latest crate engines. Jimmie had input on colors and stuff like that I think. He talked about it with passion and how much he liked it as well as some of his other old stuff. Seemed pretty genuine. The car is well done (except I'd have picked shinier wheels!) and would make a heck of a fun toy for anyone who wanted to do something like it.

I do believe going to modern dry sumped LSX motors is the best motor for our old C-3's
