Default MEGABoost™ Stage-2 electric superchargers

Yes as the title reads, I never heard of this before and seems a little bs to me. Im not interested in the car but it popped up in my search and just want to hear anyone's thought on this tuner looking thing. When it sounds too good to be true it usually is sales people these days

Id like to call bs on this and I'm sure any gains would be modest to say the least but Ive actually seen measurable gains on the dyno by shoving air into the intake w/ a leaf blower so who knows!

They (Hotrod Magazine) made an extra 20HP w/ 4 leaf blowers...

Megaboost 60,000 RPM- Really?

About 40 years ago- at the ripe age of 10- I took an electric hairdryer to the lawnmower...Didn't really do anything back then either...

my bet would be it would lose power, anything in the airflow is a restriction you would cut the surface area in half with that goofy thing

Kinda reminds me of a 12 volt electric turbocharger. ROFL!

Looks like the ducted fan motors used in model jet aircraft. I bet the dash mounted control is just an ESC. The 60k RMP is believable, but not for very long. As stated above though that thing will be a restriction in the airflow unless its running and there is no way one of thost things will run a 350, Maybe a lawnmower, but not much more

Those are just fans. In order to get any real gain you have to at least supply the engine with the air required plus compress the incoming air to a higher density to provide more O2.
A fan blade cannot compress air very well. The blades will just stall after the air backs up enough.

Actually these started long ago and they are not (weren't) really fans but boat bilge blowers.

They can move a substantial amount of air, but no where near enough to feed a SBC.

But consider that when your throttle blades are closed or near closed. they can crate a positive pressure that may give some small kick at that low RPM that wouldn't have been there without them.

You don't increase the peak hp, but maybe just the torque/hp at that point where the blades begin to open and there is still a bit of pressure on the intake tract.

As for being a restriction at higher RPM, there can be a "flapper door" to take care of that once the RPM climbs so they are simply "by-passed. It could even cut the power to the motors so you don't have the parasitic loss through the alternator.

Someone should apply a pressure gauge to see when there is boost and how much it really is. Think we all know how much pressure is requiered for a performance increase

And in my opinion it would be possible to drive a superchager by an electric motor. But we know that superchargers need a least 10hp input power, more likely 50hp to create noticeable output. So you would need 10 alternators to feed the electric motor
