1981 Gymkhana suspension
Hi there
I have a 1981 Corvette with the FE7 Gymkhana suspension option (has the rear roll bar etc).
Does anyone know if the spring should have 7 or 9 leafs?
Thanks

As far as i know, the 78-81 gymkhana F-41 sport suspension cars had a steel 7 leaf transverse spring with a 1 1/8 inch front bar and a rear 7/16 inch bar. All the 82's had a composite mono leaf rear spring-sport and base suspension. Just about any C3 SBC car that has a rear FACTORY bar is a gymkhana car.I was at a car show recently and a guy with a 78 pace car told me the car had the sport suspension. I looked in the rear wheel well for the rear factory bar-no bar. The guy was astounded when i told him the car did not have the sport suspension-seller fooled him.

I have just used a car lift at my local garage and can now confirm that the spring does have 9 leaves to it, and they are 2.5 inches wide?? Can the Gymkhana set up on a 1981 have 9 leaves to it as opposed to 7?
My actual issue is that I need to cure a squeak. and am therefore looking for a liner kit for a 2.5 inch 9 leaf spring. Does anyone know where I can get such a thing?
regards from the UK
