1971 AC System Low pressure cut out and sight glass location?
Where is the sight glass and low pressure cut out switch on a 71 270 hp 350? System holds a vacuum 29.5 for 30 min. with no leak down. I don't want to charge up, without replacing the the receiver dryer. R12 is like gold these days, but I have two full 30 lb. from old stock.
Currently system is empty. There has to be a low pressure switch somewhere and a sight glass to tell when you are fully charged.
Should there be power to compressor when the system is empty? I can't find any good schematics on line for this year. Any one have any suggestions or good sources for Air Conditioning schematics? I know that the 73's had a low pressure cut out and 71 lists a thermal switch, which I cannot locate either.
I have gauges to monitor pressures on the low and high side when filling, but want to proceed with caution.
