So I have the rear end pulled out and going with 3.55 gears. In the mean time I figured I might as well pull the trans out.
Any tips on that?
Since I'm in Wyoming I have one choice for a trans shop and got a lot of mixed reviews about them. So debating on putting a rebuilt trans in or having the upgrades to mine done (82' 700R4 with ~125K on it). I want to stick with the auto trans and would like little to no mods to put it back in.
Looking for suggestions.

"82 was one of the early years for the 700R4, and GM went on to change and improve it substantially. Some of these improvements are not compatible with the early 700R4's.

I bought my 700R4 (behind a hot-rodded L-31 350 with TPI) from Bowtie Overdrives. I have been happy with it, and suggest you take a look at them. Also, look around - there are many reputable vendors out there.

I agree. '82 was the first year for the 700R4 trans. And, shortly thereafter, several significant improvements were made. Since yours has held up, I would not be too worried about having it rebuilt. But, if you can just swap-out for a late '80s/early '90s unit for the same money, it should be a bit tougher. Either approach is OK, as long as you will still be using the car in the same way.

Well I found out that I had a 3.08 rear end not the 2.72 that should have been in the original car. Switching to a 3.73 and having it rebuilt. But that makes me wonder if the tranny hasn't been rebuilt as well. Think I'm gonna change the fluid and filter and check seals for now and see how well it holds up over the summer. So Bowie is good? What about say one from Summit or Monster? Any others?

If Your rear was a 3:08 it was most likely a 1980 rear. You might check the numbers on the Trans to verify what year it is. It might of all ready been replaced with a newer one.
