Default Cruise control/ t56 reverse lockout button

Was wondering if anyone has used the cruise control button for anything but the cruise control function? I need to wire a reverse lockout bypass switch. Any thoughts? I searched the old threads but did not find anything...

I plan to run a wire to the brake switch. Theory is that you will only be able to put it in reverse if holding the brake.

You should be able to use that switch if you so wanted to. The wiring and switch don't seem to be very heavy so maybe use the switch to trigger a relay which powers the solenoid.

Well, this weekend I got it to work using a relay. Worked perfect! Then as I was taking off my temporary wires....ZAP...... power went up the column and fried the button switch! DAMNIT... i wonder how hard it is to replace the entire turn signal switch.....

Ouch. The wheel isn't too hard to remove but I have no idea on replacing the switch or the wires down the column.
