Default 1976 corvette

Hello im a new member here, & have a question for you experanced members. So I will get to it , 1976 corvette a friend brought to me asking if I could reinstall old stereo, had new cd player in it when she bought the car. She does not like new player & wants original raido . I have raido installed ,wiring right , power on - light also - ant connected - but nothing but static coming out of speakers ? this makes no sense to me . Im use to bodywork not stero's . please help! looseing my mind with this! thank you so much.

did you check the ant connection in the rear

Plug a short-lead antenna into the radio to see if the static turns to music....

if it works---like the other member said--the original antenna/wiring has a problem.

there is a part that attaches to the firewall and plugs into the radio, did you have that part to install??

Plug the convector assembly into the rear of the stock radio. It serves as the final audio output.


The original convector may still be up under the passenger's side dash pad. If it's not there, she's going to need one.

I think the final power amplifier is only used on the original factory radios. Any new radio would not require that final amo to be used.
