What HEI cap / rotor do you recomend for tune up ?
So I'm getting ready to give my ignition a tune up ( 1975 Hei, stock L48 engine ) , new sparks, got some 8.5 msd wires.
I never imagined I had to replace the cap and rotor of the hei..
But after reading I found out I was wrong, So now I need to get a replacement cap and rotor for my stock HEI distributor.
I've been reading on what would be the best kit to get. Some say make sure you get a cap with brass fittings, but then I read that some caps with brass don't fit correct on the distributor.
Others say original acdelco with alu fittings are good.
What would my best rotor and cap be to buy ?
Thanks for your help

They are mostly the same, some will be blue or tan but most I would say are made overseas.
For piece of mind, NAPA usually has the caps with brass terminals and might even be American made

NAPA or ACCEL will be fine.
What ever you get, open the box and check for poor quality molding around the terminals inside the cap.
A good cap will have a nice clean transfer between the plastic and the brass. Poor quality caps will have excess plastic around the terminals.
do not forget about your plug wires while you're at it
enjoy the ride

Someone brought up the subject in a Dist. thread concerning "Corrected Distributor Caps"....the ignition wires are organized on the cap itself for the left and right heads.
There are pros and cons concerning their usefulness.

What are the cons? I am using one without problems.

The only "con" that I could dream up, is if by some insane chance you had a failure of the distributor cap, and by having the shorter plug wires that the "corrected" cap allow you to have, you couldn't just run into a parts store and get a generic cap, to keep you running. I know, it's a long shot, but it's all I could come up with....
