Default Question for C3 owners running 200R4 transmission

Hi, I still have to come up with a way to support the exhaust pipes at the back of the transmission, how did you do it? I'm betting with myself that whatever I dream up someone has already made a better design

You dont need any as long as you have good hangers out back for the mufflers I build custom cross members for trannys all the time never use any hangers at back of tranny or off the cross member.

I used my original cross member, bolted right up once I removed the extension,

When I had under car exhaust the hangers were mounted to the cross member,

I've had a look at all of the original bracket mounting for the various years and it looks like the 74 vette setup will work only I will mount the brackets on the engine side of the cross member as I have had slip joints put in the exhaust on the other side. Probably could get away without a bracket as Bromley said but we have very bumpy roads here so a little over engineering couldn't hurt.

I cheated, I cut the lower section of the loops out of the cross member, and back at an extreme angle on the square section, sort of keyhole looking, filled in the openings, built a lattice across the top of the loop, inside, all braced to the fillin/plated off openings....

SO I can now drop my entire exhaust system out of the car with just 6 bolts, two on each side of the pipe menders, and two on the rear hangers after that, just 6 more bolts and the cross member is mine too.....

Have you got a pic of your cross member? I thought about this option but was worried about the torsional rigidity. This is why I had the slip joints included in the new pipe work to make removal a lot easier.
