Default Corvette genius needed... inquire within

Stump the expert:
What part is this?

Round object mounted near the radio on a 1977 Corvette SBC, manual transmission w/ A/C. Has what looks like vent holes.

I asked Ecklers and they didn't know. Hopefully someone on here does!

See attached pics.
Thanks!

thank you for all your replies. The interior was, thankfully, in better shape. But what is a horn doing mounted to the back of the car, near the radio?
It was mounted in the back of the car behind the taillights near the radio antenna.

I not suprized Ecklers could not help you lol. If the rest of the under side of your car looks anything like that horn then holly smokes you have some rust issues lol.

The same reason that they put a key switch on the front fender.

Have you read through the owner's manual? The owner's manual is a great way to dissipate auras.

If you told Ecklers that this was found 'behind the radio', I'm not sure you can blame them for not knowing.

Good point Mike. Especially if they weren't shown that picture.

Looks like my alarm horn.

Who the F*ck puts that in the cockpit behind the radio. Bubba ?

On the other hand, must not be a lot of fun for a thief when this thing goes off constantly in the interior and you don't know where it's coming from. You would run the car into a three for less.

Didn't read that, but yes that's probably the antenna.

Weren't the alarm horns supposed to be mounted on the firewall, drivers side. Mine was, but this is a 79.

Was it mounted behind the radio? That would wake you up on a long drive!
