Electric Fuel Pump Install - Carter
Hey all...In the process of installing an electric fuel pump (I have my reasons) and trying to determine the best location to tie into the main fuel line. I mention Carter type as it come assembled with the inline filter and I need about 12" of space. Anyone have any tips on this?
Another question....I plan to by-pass the mechanical fuel pump all together, if I am capping the mounting location I need to remove the rod as well correct?
Thanks for your tips in advance....ez

I think the carter inline pump with the filter is a low performance pump in my opinion. I would suggest the carter 4070 pump for your application. There is or was a member on this forum that mounted his pump on his c3 back behind the license plate. You may find another pump similar to the carter long cylinder type that is more of a high performance pump. My buddy has a c3 with that type and is mounted on the pass side frame just behind the pass seat area. I do not recall what brand of pump he is using but the first one failed in 2 months. I have had the 4070 pumps on two different performance vehicles for over 10 years with zero problems.

That is the smaller Edelbrock deadheaded to a Holley Ultra. I forget who actually manufactures this for them but so far it has been reliable, and dead on 6 psi. My plan is an upgrade using the return line but so far, "if it ain't broke…."

I had placed mine on the passenger side floor board, it was loud and a PITA because of the prepump filter, when i rebuilt the enine i took the time to move it to in tank and it is much quieter.
