Default T56 hydraulic clutch bracket

Hey guys, I may not post much but I do spend many hours reading posts. I am currently installing an LS T56 in my 78 automatic. The T56 Trans was built by Tic performance for some rich guys WS6 with 800+ HP. Well he couldn't drive it so it had to come out and an auto was put in. That's how I got it. It came with a Tilton Hydraulic clutch setup. As well as the stage 4 Spec clutch, pressure plate, and "push bearing". Needless to say, I wanted to keep this complete setup. After reading countless threads about the hydraulic clutch conversion all roads lead to the Keisler bracket or the 85 Chevy 1 ton master. So, I tried to call Keisler ....well now I know they are **** up. Another option was American Powertrain's bracket..http://americanpowertrain.com/c-6369...acket-kit.html at $200 I think I will pass! I thought I would pass along my project for the day....

I purchased (temporary purchase) an 85 1 ton master to establish the correct angle. Once it was test fit and everything was good I welded it up.

I am trying to add as much shiny stuff to the engine compartment as I can afford so I powder coated the bracket.

Here it is installed

Here it is compared to the 85 master

It may not be the best one ever built, but it will work. I hope it helps someone else that may be looking to do the same thing.

Excellent
There is a certain satisfaction from doing it yourself well and not using a "kit".

Nice job. Looks as good or better than the one I have from Keisler.

Very nice work!

Any chance you have the measurements you used for the tubing that connects the 2 plates?
diameter
length
angle of cut at firewall plate

What MC are you using there? And was there any modification of the linkage inside to the pedal from the MC?

I am in process of getting all my parts together for the LS1 T56 conversion and could definitely use this.
I can fabricate.
Like someone said, certain satisfaction in making your own and doing your own work.

Txs
Much appreciated.

I knew I should have made two! I used a 1"1/4 pipe. I got the angle from the 85 Chevy 1 ton master. My master is a Tilton. As for the pedal connection, I just made a spacer that attached to my pedal. Very easy looking back. Ask plenty of questions it's still fresh in my head for now,..lol

Thanks Brian

I guess I'll get a 85 Chevy 1 ton master like you did and fab from there.

You should have made MANY more.
Sell them on ebay.
The usual sources are getting big bucks but they want to sell the whole kit.

How soon do you need one? I could pull mine off, build another one or 10 and sell it to you

Just throwing this out there for others who may be trying this. I went a different direction and used the original manual clutch rod to find the angle - mine came out to 15 degrees.

I made a plate for the firewall with a 1 3/4" hole (if I am remembering correctly) where the original rod came through. Then I used 1 1/4" tube -- it fit inside the 1 3/4" hole, not flush with the plate like Hofs01 did. I had a loose fit so that I could angle the tube a bit.

I cut the original push rod off where it started to bend so that I had a straight rod coming through the tube, while connected to the pedal. Then I shimmed around the rod with hose so that the rod was centered in the tube. Then tack weld, remove adapter and finish.

Default Keisler is gone but not their products!

PerfectFit™ hydraulic clutch kit are now available from Silver Sport Transmissions. We purchased the KEI assets, products and technology from the U.S. bankruptcy court back in April.

Great job on the mounting bracket!
