Dimming head lamps, and all other lights, and then she died
My C6 is in the shop for repairs, so I am driving my '73 to work in the interim. After 2 days, she gave out today on the way home. Lights (interior and headlamps) had been dimming, then they almost went out, radio fading, and the engine (350 crate engine, 4 speed manual) started severely sputtering. Made it to a parking lot. And that is where she sits. Any ideas? https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ies/frown5.gif

Cars will run on battery only so long and then quits...Check your charging system...it should identify whats needed and point you in the right direction
it must be running to do this so take a boost or another battery to help test the system....

You should have 13 to 14 VDC on the alternator with the engine running. If not, pull the alternator off and take it to a parts store. They can test it for you.

you should have 14.5 volts at the alt. Look for broken wires etc, dirty battery cables, something is wrong, could be battery is bad. charge battery and have it tested. could have weak cell, will not charge then.
The 73 might be jealous of the c6, and is making it known to you!!!

Same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. I barely got it home when it quit. I put the charger on it and left it over night and it has been great ever since. I have 14.5 at the alternator and battery when it is running now. I had been doing some work on the windows and constantly opening the doors and moving the windows up and down and I think that messed things up. Worth a try anyway.
