Default 1969 black Vette... Pricing questions

Hey guys,
I sold my '77 in the summer and I can't stop thinking about the fun we had and I'm now in the market for a '69. I found one locally, but I think the guy is asking too much (he admits to not making the effort to determine the value and he's using his mechanics advice). Here are some photos and some of the main pointers.

383 stroker rebuild with about 3,000 miles
5-speed transmission (Rochester I think he said)
Estimate ~430 horsepower
Hooker side pipes
Interior is in decent shape
Paint is in decent, but not perfect, shape.
Paint color originally red

So obviously, this isn't a collectors car, but it is something I'm interested in because I want a daily driver. What do you think the value of this car could be?

Check the craigslist below

Thoughts?

Way over priced. Nice car but not for 35K.

About 2x overpriced imo. Here's a LS1 6-speed restomod that sold on ebay for $20k.

$35k will bring you a nice driver quality 427. My advice, shop, shop and shop some more until you find just the right car, at the right price. I followed literally hundreds of auctions on ebay until I finally pulled the trigger on mine.
Enjoy the hunt,
Eddie

Yes, over priced (more realistic is around $18-$20k. A car like this has probably been around and then around again. For $35k you can buy a very nice or resto-modded small block car or a big block car. I'd suggest shopping on the forum.

OF COURSE THE ULTIMATE VALUE IS UP TO YOU.

Shop the forum first. I don't trust ebay.

Just my opinion.

I have watched some nice Chrome Bumper cars on both the Forums and Ebay for way less/better condition. There is a green 73 1 owner, 57,000 mile car on Ebay now or was for less than $20,000. I looked just now and there are a bunch of nice cars in the Sale Forum just below....I would say you are paying a lot of money for things you will never recoop...After market A/C, Stroker motor and the 5 speed trans...Why spend big bucks to buy someone else's problems.

Buy a cheaper car and make it your own or have fun building your own problem child.

I bought what I thought was a reasonably nice car until I wanted to fix a few things here and there.....

Well, I am fixing a lot more than I planned but in the end it will be new.

Just my opinion.

Karsten

I have a 69 that is in a little better shape than that one and I think he should ask more...

Naw, I'm with everyone else. $35k is for a numbers matching BB in decent shape. We have a SB coupe here in Richmond on Craigslist that the guys has been asking $35k for the last year and it still on there.

Keep looking. You can find something nice for $20k-ish, I would think.

If you can't see it personally and have your mechanic look at it, you're always taking a chance.

Mine is not a resto-rod, hot rod, BB or even highly upgraded stock engine. Mine is just a Stock Rally Red Roadster, number's matching, documented original mileage (76,036), L-79 327cu 350hp, 4 spd close ratio, posi rearend, power steering, nice driver.

I bought it on ebay with a winning bid of $23,600 from Fayetteville AR. Other than having the carbeurator overhauled and car tuned by Lars for the Rocky Mountain altitude, there is nothing major needed and you've seen it Ralph.

All the advice given is valid, but none more than take your time!!!

Rick, I feel bad that I may have said something out of line. I certainly didn't mean to question your purchasing decision by commenting on ebay. I have seen your car and it is a truly a great find. I guess I was just trying to poorly express my experience with the site. My comments were out of line and I apologize.

Ralph.

I never trust hp figures they are usually guessed
Could be a non stroked 383, without paperwork I always assume its not. Some think their bored over 350 is "stroked" making it a stroker.
Like others said grossly overpriced imo.

Ralph.
Ralph you are correct in sharing your experience or concerns in this or any forum. Fraud does exist in our world. Like most have suggested do the research. I've bought my '98, '06, and '68 and sold my '90, other '98 on ebay and my '12 Grand Sport on AutoTrader, so I've been on both sides. I couldn't agree with you more, caution and research is key no matter the source of purchase.

God Bless
rick
