Default brake lights and tail lights work. Just not together

Just got my '79 on the road and have an odd problem. My brake lights work fine and my tail lights work fine. But when my lights are on and I hit the brakes the right side goes dark. No brake light or tail light. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like an issue with the ground. Try grounding the brass part of the bulb with a jumper wire and see if that helps.

Default Turn Signal Switch assembly when it happened to me...

It was worn out on my 68 and it took me a while to figure it out. Then when I thought about it made sense. There is a quite a bit of stuff going on when you are driving along with
1. the lights on and
2. you hit the brakes,
and
3. turn on your turn signal......

Check your grounds first but then I'd look into the turn signal switch.

FYI, the turn signal switch has nothing to do with the tail lights operating or not.

I too would recommend you first check the grounds.

Bingo! It was the ground. I'm learning that bad grounds are the root of most electrical issues on these cars. Thanks for the help.
