New best ET and MPH
New best numbers, by a little bit, today at Englishtown, on my first of two time shots before eliminations. Very good conditions today with DA around -700. Ran 12.15 at 110.33. This was in bracket racing mode with lots of gas and a warm engine. Didn't need all that gas as it turns out since I only lasted till the 2nd round.
Old best numbers were with XE262 cam, now running hyd. roller with 225/232, .535/.550, Qjet, Vortec heads, auto, 3.73 rear, drag radials.
This pic is not from today, but you get the idea.

17.11 in the other lane? What were you racing, an old Yugo? LOL! His 1/8 mile time was 11.48, that means the race was over, and he was only about half-way down the track! Wow, that must have been demoralizing for him. You're pretty close to the 11s, you gonna go for it?

How many rpm do you bring it up to power braking at the line?

Thanks again guys.
That run was just a time shot, like practice, before eliminations. Doesn't matter who wins or loses those. But, it was my first runm when the air was coolest. As for the 11s, I don't think this setup will get there. Yesterday's conditions were very fast and another .15 second will be tough. I might see a 12.0 with less gas (weight) and a cold engine.
I actually hold it just above idle, around 1,200, on the line.

i agree a 12 flat car is a very fast street car, i know guys in the 70's that trailered 14 second cars to the track. yes i agree i shook my head at the time too, but they did. go for another tenth!!!

Curious about the RPM difference between the two cams. What RPM are you shifting at and what is the difference in RPM's at the 1/4 mile mark between the two cams? Not sure how much difference removing the front sway bar will make on a Vett but it makes 2 tenths on my 65 Chevelle.

7T9L82 - I remember those days in the 70s. Back then a 13 sec. street car was extremely fast. Now, its not uncommon to see a 10 sec car driven to the track.
76Vett - You bring up an interesting point. My TH350 shift 1-2 and 2-3 at 5,500, automatically. That was fine for the old cam but this cam continues to pull strong beyond 5,500. I have a kit to adjust the shift points in the governor but I'm not looking forward to that project due to the difficulty of changing the weights and springs and because it is a trial and error process that I might have to repeat. I would like to get the shift point to about 5,700 or 5,800. That could produce a drop in the ET.
