Default Track day--new best MPH/ET

Went to track rental last night and got a chance to try out my new toms diff steel leaf spring and QA1 rear shocks. I made one pass on just motor and pump gas and then I added race gas and made 3 passes with a 100hp shot of juice but only sprayed from 2nd gear on. I had my ignition box pulling 6deg once nitrous hit, probably could add 1-2deg more next time to get more power.

all runs on 275/6/15 MT drag radials and a tko 600 trans.

Motor pass( launched at 4300rpm, 19.5psi tires, 15 clicks on shocks)

car bogged slightly

60ft 1.628
330 4.83
660 7.526
MPH1 91.37
1000 9.838
1320 11.81
MPH2 113.34

3 passes with 100hp of nitrous sprayed from 2nd gear on.

60ft 2.038
330 5.232
660 7.835
MPH1 96.35
1000 10.051
1320 11.91
MPH2 121.32

(4600rpm launch, 19.5psi tires, 15clicks on shocks....spun really bad)
picked up 8mph...lost .10 ET

60ft 1.870
330 5.158
660 7.77
MPH1 96.34
1000 9.98
1320 11.84
MPH2 121.57

(4200rpm, 17.5psi tires, 17clicks on shocks, added 3 gallons of fuel.....bogged)

60ft 1.782
330 4.876
660 7.412
MPH1 98.07
1000 9.581
1320 11.41
MPH2 124.3

(4500rpm, 17.5psi, 17clicks, slight bog)

I picked up .40sec ET and 11mph on the 100hp shot but my best 60ft was on the first motor only run. If i could get a good launch and 60ft i think i have enough mph to get into the 10s.

I have some video to add later. heres a picture from 11.41 run

rear gears are 3.73s....with just the blower I trap around 5,000rpm (113-114mph). on the bottle I trap at 6,000rpm(124mph).

Shift at 6200rpm.

Congrats! That's a good day at the track. With that trap speed, if you can max your leave off the line and then throughout your shifts, you'll run a pretty sick number. Can you say 10s?

Man that car is loaded.

Thx for sharing,

As I recall your dad is Gary R. correct? I think you might be in need of his services if you leave much harder. Is your rear Diff a 12 bolt? or Super 10? NICE JOB! by the way, 10 second ride when everything is figured out.

I'm pretty sure he's got the fully built 12 bolt.

You have enough MPH there to get well into the 10s.

On fastest run... track is 603ft above sea level.... It was 75F, 54%humity, 29.96in Hg.......DA calculator shows 1936ft. Not sure what that's used for or if it was "good air" or not?

motor runs at 180deg, alum radiator and 2-electric fans.

yep, I have a 12 bolt with "the works", 3.5" shafts, 30/31 spline axles, halftshaft & drive shaft safety hoops, 1350 spicers on a custom 0.134" walled driveshaft, VB&P traction bar, solid differential mounts, toms HD steel 7-leaf, and adjustable QA-1 shocks. I also run a drag vette kit that lowers the strut rods 1" and using heim joints.

My goal is to have a street car, keep it a stick shift, run the overdrive for highway cruising, and try to get into the 10s. I think if I added 1-2deg more timing while on the N2O I can get a little more power/mph out of it and still have a safe tune up.

cam is a 234/244 .520/.544 112LSA

Last time at the track with just the blower I was spinning tires and had issues with rear suspension bounce on launch. that was with 20psi in tires, regular AC delco shocks, and a cheapo 7 leaf.

I just added the QA1 shocks, stiffer spring, dragvette kit, and tried lower tire pressure and was seeing a bogging instead of spinning. this was hurting the 60ft.

Next time I might try more tire pressure or higher launch rpm?

my go-pro cam was on wrong setting so instead of getting video inside car I got 700 photos of nothing.

The only video i got was from my buddys iphone. Nova had great reaction time but only ran 12.08 so I came around him. I left too soft and had a slight bog.

On a NA motor 2000' would be a large power penalty. Not sure for a blower though. My guess is not as much as NA motor.

Are u running a blow off vlv? I think i read the smaller blowers don't use a BOV with only 8psi boost. Is that true?

Add a degree at a time and watch your MPH and keep a close check on the plugs.
If MPH goes up and straps on plugs aren't showing heat, add another degree of timing.
What plugs are you running?
NGK's are the easiest to read the heat on the strap and are more forgiving if overtimed.
You probably already know this as I recall seeing a IS sticker on your car in one of your vids.
