Any Members Out There With State Farm??
A while back one of the topics was related to Vette insurance, and a number of you said that you had State Farm Classic Car insurance. My agent does not seem to know about it, and wants to sell me a regular policy with collision, liability, etc. He will give me an agreed amount with an appraisal stating that amount. But what he is telling me is that agreed amount is not what I would neccessarily get if the car would be totaled. That would only be a starting point where the depreciation would start. Can with State Farm insurance anyone shed any light on this?? :flag

He/she is an idiot ro trying to get more commission out of you, sorry to say. I have mine insured thru State Farm as a pleasure vehicle less than 2500 miles a year for about $18 a month. You can step up to 5000 miles but my agent said it is a lot more expensive but worth a check if you drive it a lot.

That I need to check on. I would have to look at my policy to see what the exact terminology is but your agent is supposed to do that work for you. I would consider finding a new agent since what is an agent in business for: to service the customer.

I have the State Farm Classic for my 74. There are some restrictions, like Mileage, and where you can drive the car. Expecially not to work. $ 127.00 per year, $ 12.5 K value, Full coverage with $ 250.00 deductable. Each year, I have to take it to the agent so they can take pictures of it for the insurance.

So I should ask for pleasure insurance or Classic Car insurance. Also did your agents say anything about depreciation from your agreed amount?? :flag

Funny, mine never mentioned not driving it to work and I don't have to do teh picture deal. Better keep my mouth shut or I might get a call to bring it in for pictures.

Re: Any Members Out There With State Farm?? (Fevre)
When I went to get insurance on my 80, the agent had never written a classic policy and obviously didn't know much about it. After she investigated it, the policy cost was almost 80% less than a "normal" car insurance. They took pictures of my car but said nothing about taking more on a yearly basis. Also, I mentioned that the car might occasionally be driven to work and again nothing was said against that. I could have gone with Hagerty's for around $60/yr. less but all my other cars are with State Farm and we have a regional office here in town so I decided to stay local. I pay $232 a year with coverage identical to my other vehicles. I didn't think that $ was too bad considering I live in Louisiana. The original cost for insurance was to be close to $900 every 6 months before going to classic insurance. :yesnod:

I have State Farm as follows: antiqiue driven less than 2500 miles; every driver must have another car for daily duty; must be garaged; agreed value of $30,000. The rate is about $117 every six months. If I store it for the winter, it's about $17 for the winter six months. I had to provide an appraisal and take it to an agent for pictures.

Try being 23 and having 1 speeding ticket
110/month full coverage
I am thinking about taking the insurance off, parking the Vette and turning my insurance payment into a Yamaha R6. Gotta add to the toy collection!

My car is on a weekend cruisier policy. I can drive the car 7500 miles a year and I pay around 200 a year for the insurance. The car has full coverage and all. Now I do have the multicar discount.

Come on Texas. Someone out there from the Lone Star has to have State Farm. Do you have this type of insurance, or are your agents hiding it too?? :flag
