Can I Run Without a Hood for a Few Days
I just installed a new motor and am having a new transmission put in within a week. Is it OK for me to run the car without a hood until after the new trans is put in? I'm concerned about cooling issues with the hood off. Car is a 76 with auto trans

You won't be the first one to run without a hood. Just keep an eye on the temp. It's cooled off a little bit around here so that will help.

Sure. Just watch the temp gauge in case. I'm running without a hood right now. Just short trips to monitor my recent engine work to ensure everything is good. Hood goes on later this week.

I'm in md. I ran my camaro back and forth to work for a month with out a hood, til I could afford a replacement. never had a problem.
also worked with a guy that used a piece of ply wood for a hood on his pick upfor at least 2 years..
yeah , we called him wood hood.

I ran with out mine for a summer with no issues. Old hood wouldnt close with new engine. Had to buy a new hood. Took for ever to reach Alaska and shipping cost as much as the new hood. Good luck on your project.

how would not having a hood give it heating problems?
All that hot air in the compartment is gone?
