I have been looking on the Vette store (ebay). Also on the trader web pages. They are pretty expensive. I would like to get one that I just have to tinker with and add mods to. I don't know if I am ready to do another frame off resurrection. Plus I really enjoy driving vettes not just wrenching on one. The economy sucks, we are moving into are new house soon the wife has layed down the law on projects in the garage. I won't be able to build a shop till after the first of the year. Should I just get this vert Idea out of my head??? How many of you guy's love your vette but would rather have a different one. :seeya :( :( :(

You have what I want. The vert with the rag top up looks so cool. I was just staring at them last night. I am in love with the verts. I could probably buy one in a few months but,,,,, I don't know the economy is getting scary.

I knew when I first started looking for my '70 my wife wouldn't be in the mood for swapping & trading cars in the future. I had to hit pretty close to what I wanted on my first shot. I kept my requirements simple: '68-72, 4sp! :D I think I hit my target head on. :lol:

Yep you guy's are right I got it bad and I can't shake it. You guy's that have the verts have it going on. I thought I would be satisfied with just having a C3 And this one I have been very intimate with. Ripped her down to the frame and brought her back. But Damn those chrome bumpers and rag top well it's killing me. I think I am going to do it before the end of the year. But I will keep my 76 until I get the vert. I know my wife if I sell the 76 and try to put the money back saying it is for another Vette the money will find its way to something else.

I still have a couple things I need to do to the 76 to finish her up.. Red paint for one.

HEHE, My wife just left for work in the '72 vert, snicker....
she does get those 6 1/2 shoes into the gas...she complained of fuel economy...

If you want one, you should buy one! Nothing gets looks on the road like a chrome bumper ragtop. There are good deals out there (not on Ebay), you just have to keep looking. Don't get impatient or settle.

One problem: After you get it, you'll want a coupe too. If you're like many of the guys around here, you'll need more than one Vette to be satisfied ;)

My first Corvette was a '79. I bought it because I WANTED A VETTE!!! I loved the '79, but once I had it I realized that I really wanted a chrome bumpered C3. When I was looking, I determined the following:

1) Stay away from the Corvette dealers!!!!
2) Most (not all) ads I found on-line had prices that were inflated. The high price and the fact that I couldn't "touch" the car scared me away.
3) I found that the best place to shop was at a large Corvette events, where they had sales corrals. Fo me that was the Corvette Expo (Knoxville) and Carlisle. The vast majority of individual sellers at these shows are VERY MOTIVATED to sell. Take cash and it is amazing the deals you can make on the last couple days of the show!

Hold out until Carlisle (Aug 23 - 25). That is where I bought my '72. And I got a GREAT deal! GOOD LUCK to you!
