I did some research as to why people in upstate New York use Edl carbs. Evironmentalists haven't determined the exact cause of the higher rate of mental illness per 100,000 people in that region

IMO - the mental issue........ ya, to some extent .............. I just think that it is economics. These modded double pumpers are $1000 bucks.

Have to disagree Holley is the easiest to maintain.

It's one and nine sixteenths inches. Maybe the way I wrote it was confusing, I don't know the convention for writing it in print, so I just wrote 1 9/16". It's an old, plain-Jane, garden variety Holley 1850 600 vacuum secondary carb. It has 1 9/16" throttle bores. I just measured a spare that I have lying around, with my trusty old micrometer. 1.556", close enough to 1 9/16" for government work. I can't be the only guy in the world who's fussy about stuff like this, can I?

600 CFM Vacuum Secondary. Tiny 4 hole spacers are not common because you don't see 450 - 600 cfm double pumpers very often.

VS carbs are not subject to lack of booster signal do to low vacuum when all 4 throttle bores open like on a double pumper.

4 holes are to help on tall plenum single planes and would probably be detrimental in a small plenum dual plane if that is what you have.

Yes, it's on an Edelbrock Performer 2101 Intake. Thanks for the insight, gkull, I'll take it under advisement.

Looks like summit Racing came through for me:

It's mainly for insulation, in my case, but I don't think I want to use an open spacer. I would like to keep the two sides of the dual-plane intake separate. I think this spacer is what I want, even though I think it's a little pricey. Right now, with the 1" thick spacer I have on the engine, I have about 1/16" of an inch of hood clearance, this will free up an additional 1/2", which will make me more comfortable, too. Thanks for all the input, guys.
