'72 Mysterious Switch and Plug - What are they?
I have 2 items I need help identifying:
There is a slide switch just under the center console air vents on the driver side - What is it? It moves front to back but doesn't seem to effect anything. It is shown in the owners manual but it isn't called out with a description.
There is some type of electrical plug or connector attached to the driver's seat bottom. It isn't attached to anything and it doesn't look like it has a place to plug into under the floor carpet.
Thanks for the info.

My car is a '72 and AFAIK/remember, I never saw any seatbelt wiring, or other associated lights/alarms in my car.....course it was a old show car with a few custom touches done on it from '72-95 when I bought it, but the thing was electrically stock as a stove, mechanically too....

Thanks!
I was thinking the plug was for the seat belt alarm, but when we pulled the seat out to work on the seat belt retractor the husband didn't see anywhere it plugged into.
I probably would have noticed that the lever closed the vents but I was enjoying the t-top off and it was a little bit windy :-)

72's came with a seat belt alarm. Very early 72's got just the timer buzzer. Both belt retractors have a switch/plug designed to cut off the warning system when you pull the belt out of the reel.
With the engine on and car in forward gear the alarm sounds until you buckle the drivers seat belt. There's a weight sensor contact switch in the passenger seat that closes when you sit in it.
If you found the plug hanging from the drivers seat probably someone switched seats side to side as the driver's seat obviously gets the most wear.
