I have an oil leak around the dip stick holder. Infack the holder is so lose that it comes out when I pull the dip stich to check oil. There is a small gasket/ grommet that shold hild this in place and I think this is the problem, however I have tried all the usual sources ( Napa, Pep boy etc. ) and nobody carries it. Has anybody got a suggestion for a source? Thanks for your help.

The dipstick tube is a interference fit. It simply pressed into the block hole and can indeed be pulled out with enough force. You might try simply pushing/twisting it back into the hole. If there's still oil "leaking" from the tube (bottom or top) after that you have bigger problems.

You can also try a little gasket sealer around point that the dipstick goes into the block.

I flared the engine end of my tube enough to insure a tight fit, applied a little silicone sealer and tapped it in. Been there for over 4 years and still solid.

no wonder I uld not find the gasket - Thanks I will try sealer.
