Bubba put brakes on my 77
It appears that Bubba did a brake job on my 77 sometime in the past. The rear calipers were installed on the wrong sides and homemade brake lines were created to make it work. That is easy to fix and is what I am doing. However, he managed to round off the lower rear caliper mount bolt on the driver's side rear brakes.
I can't for the life of me get that bolt out. I tried penetrating oil, heat, wiggling the caliper up and down since I did get the front bolt out (now i can pivot the caliper a little), and threatened it with all sorts of abusive language to no avail. I even drove the next smaller metric size open end wrench on it and tried to force it out that way.
Now it is late and I am tired so I gave it another dose of penetrating oil and colorful threats and will try again tomorrow. Does anyone have any tips on how to do this other than what I am doing? I really need to get the brakes fixed so I can get my new exhaust installed. I hate to miss that appointment...
Help?
Update: I moved to the front today to replace calipers, pads, and hoses. Bubba had used vise grips on the front lines and I broke the end off the left side trying to get it off. The right side is just as bad. Ordering new steel lines today. Another delay...

Burning Brakes
Soak it for a couple day, heat, and go at it again.
Bubba, why the heck would you put a caliper on backwards??? If it doesn't line up, its probably wrong.

He put the right one on the left side (and vice-versa) which put the open hole for the line in the wrong place. Instead of of having a DUH moment, he just said "duh" and made up a brake line from a section of parts store tubing. It works, but looks like crap and is probably dangerous.

and after that acetone/ATF has dried off (big fire otherwise) - weld a nut to the bolt (weld on the inside of the nut). Use the largest nut you can fit in the space. The heat will soak and loosen the bolt, the nut will give you something to twist on to get it out.... and yes, you may have to take the spindle off the car to do this...
Depending on your welding skills, and how tough it's stuck, you may have to repeat the "weld on the nut" several times before it finally lets loose.

If your heart is pure, and your will is strong, and you wish, and hope, and pray, and curse, and swear, and bleed, and sweat, and cry enough..........then..........and only then......... that bolt will come out. And when it does, (And it will, my friend, oh yes, it will!) you can throw it down on the ground, and raise your face to the heavens, and, with arms held up, and fists clenched, gloriously proclaim: "Yes! The day is mine!!!!"
It's a pretty good feeling, but, all in all, I'd rather just put a wrench on it and remove it without any drama. But sometimes..........fate has other plans for you. Remember this: suffering builds character. Good luck!

Irwin bolt extractors. Everyone should have a set. Get a breaker bar on one, and whatch that sucker come out.
Seeing something like this would make me wanna call the cops on the person that sold me the car...

I can't blame the guy I bought it from. He bought it at an estate auction from the original owner's family just to flip. I bought a bargain in it so I can't complain too much since it already has a newer engine and 200R4 installed.
