Alternator for 1969 427/435
I am looking for some intel on an alternator for a 1969 427/435 tri power. The car has power steering but no a/c. The current alternator is dieing and not period correct.
Looking for the correct Delco Remy model # and amps. The alternator currently in the car is 63 amps. Not sure if this is correct for this car.
Any suggestions were to purchase a period correct, rebuilt alternator would be helpful as well.
Thanks
Jeff

In 1968, 61 amp alt for AC equipped cars, 41 amp alt for all others.
Any black book or here on line will give you the Delco Remey drawing number for your model.
You don't need a modern over the top amp alt.
They're for all the electronics on the modern sleds.

Your car originally came with a 42 amp unit, part number 1100833. The date code would be typically 2 weeks to 2 months before the car was built.
Unless you're going to show the car or just enjoy blowing lots of money, rebuild the existing unit for $20 or so.

I don't think that Power Steering was an available option on a BB 3x2 427/435HP? Only offered on the 400HP tri-power and 390HP BB's. Perhaps this was true for 67's and not 69's?

Unless you have a very late 69. After August 1969, Chevrolet transitioned to the 1970 alternator, so you'll need a 1100900. What's the build date of your car?

The car was built in early February 1969.
In that case you need the VERY expensive 1100833 (as opposed to the just expensive 1100900)!
Get ready for STICKER SHOCK!
However, does your car have TI ignition? If so, you need the 1100825 alternator (which, unfortunately, is just as expensive - if not more - than the 1100833!)

If your car originally came with TI, then you would need the 1100825. However, if it's no longer installed on the car, then go with the 1100833, or reinstall all the TI stuff and go with the 1100825.
The only difference between the two is the output. Standard alternators put out 42 amps and the TI alternator put out 61 amps.
By the way, a July, 1969 alternator is too late for your car, You should have one dated in the late January or early February, 1969 range. I'm not sure Ralph is actually selling his alternator though. I think he's just letting you know which one he has and the date as a reference.
