Speeddirect's say they are custom shaved to fit perfectly. maybe you can find out what mods they do to the seats.

S#!t

Even if I took an inch out of the bottom, i'd still have to wear goggles. Also, the seat was turned to the left. It would have to come up even higher to sit straight.

So, to answer any questions, the GTS II does not fit in a 1980 C3 (if your over 5'9"). I can't say for sure about any other year C3 not knowing if there is any difference in floor pans.
Looks PERFECT! Just lean to the side a little when you run with tops. Myself I mounted a Kirkey aluminum road race seat to factory rails. Works well! I'm 6'0" FYI.

Did you get the shaved seat option? The lower brackets? An inch here and there makes a difference.

Im afraid that even three inches lower wouldn't help. Im back on the hunt for a set of Ferio seats again I guess. Did I read something about seats from a MR2???

Sorry to see you are having trouble. I am 6'1" and I do fit okay with my A4s. I'll just clear the t-top with a helmet on - yes I have the long torso and short legs also. I did go with teh shaved seat option and Speed Direct brackets. These things were a real PIA to install!!!

I went with the A4 shaved option, narrow version (the wides won't fit) and still had to mount them to the floor so they would tilt foward. Yes, not the easiest thing I've ever done but still a great seat.

So at 6"1 long torso the A4's work that is great news for me. But I saw that the A4 wide's will not fit is that correct? Thanks

Default Speed Direct GTS II Seats

I put them in, took them out because I just could not get them to work correctly with the brackets that they came with. They are flat that and the floor is not. And what a hummer to put the bults in, wow. So, I modified them to utilize my seat brackets from the 74 original seats.
Now they work correctly and there is not issue with how they sit. The seats are high, I am 5'6" and need to recline a bit to get lower. Overall the seats are nice, I got the leather.

My mod:

There is an article in the January 14th Vette magazine installing Corbeau A4 seats in a C3 1972. I hope this helps.

Thanks and I do have the article. I have seen where Mongoose (Grandsports) and a few other C3's have attached the seats to the floor and are fixed. I had Ultrashields in my GrandSport Replica but it was too much "*** pain" on the long ride. I have some time so we will see. I certainly do not want to give up head room

I don't know about glackore's specifics, but there is a company in Washington state called Vetteworks which sells a harness bar system for C3s called Shark Bar.

So these are my fears as we'l, having the same "ah sh!$" moment on install.....I have an 81 and this article here from Vette magazine on the A4's has me set on getting them for mine...but....they installed in a 71....are the floors/headroom different from 71 to 81? Between the seats and brackets they look like a great fit.

I have had Recaro's in my 1980 since well sometime right around 1980. There were some brackets made to mount them but basicly they were just some flat bar. Over the Years I have re mounted then a number of times. Back in the day I was 6'2" ( I'm not that tall anymore) and had the usual head clearance problems. I have no idea how anybody could fit into one of these cars with out the Glass Tops, let alone see a traffic light when stoped at a intersection. Anyway I did away with the Drivers seat track, I have no adjustment fore and aft its just all the way back all the time. Like mashed up agaist the rear panel carpet. Getting those 2 back nuts on was a sob but it could be done. After doing this a number of times and needing to pass tech for the Nevada 100 open road race I drilled out the stock bolts and made 1/2" holes instead. Using 7/16" bolts tack welded to the seat bracket I just put Nuts on from the bottom. The front ones can be reached with a wrench and I have a 6 point harness bolted here as well. Big Washers on the Bottom. I figure the Seat isn't more than 1/2" to 1" higher than no seat at all.
