Default 68 door removal

Has anyone taken the doors off their 68conv? I am wanting to take them off to paint the car. What is the best way to do that?

My advice would be to paint the car with the doors in place.

There are two ways to remove the doors; with the hinges or without. Leaving the hinges on the car, the hinges unbolt inside each door. Removing the hinges with the door, the hinges unbolt from inside the car.

In either instance, index all the bolt heads and mark the shim stacks to assist with alignment when the doors go back on.

The AIM helps.

In process of painting my 68 now-took doors off also-removed access plates to hinges on doors and sprayed white paint on hinges to line up hinges when reassembling- no problem-reinstall will take 2 people though

Bare doors are bulky but can be manhandled by one person if you watch what you're doing. I "rode" mine into place using my floor jack and a piece of 2x4.
