Yeah but it does not talk about how to remove and reinstall cable from ditsy. Must be some tips about how to do that.

I replaced my tach cable years ago, and remember it was a *itch to unhook and reattach to the tach way up under the dash. There is a clip on the back of the tach that you have to push toward the tach in order to pull the cable off. Then you have to push that clip again in order to attach the new cable. If your tach cable just needs some lube and isn't broke, look for a fitting that some of the vendors sell that is a 90* bend and has a zerk fitting for lubing. The 90* bend takes the stress off the cable becauses it attaches at the distributor. If you replace the cable, buy the 90* fitting to make things easier. Good luck!

Thank you, my plan is to only detach cable at only at distributor, lube what I can and then reattach. My clicking noise in distributor. Any tips you can provide are appreciated.

Do you just pull or wiggle the cable out of the ditsy and push it back in. Just seems tricky to me for thing to line up correctly.

Unscrew the collar at the distributor and pull straight out. When you reinstall, just look in the hole and turn the inner cable with your fingers to line it up with the distributor fitting. It's a square cable in a square hole. Can't go wrong. Buy that coupling and it will make things much easier to lube.

Buy the fitting!! I should have several years ago and now I have to replace the drive gear and brass button. The shaft froze up and stripped the brass gear (I assumed that oiling the cable would also lubricate the tach drive shaft - NOT) . You may want to remove the dizzy and examine everything for excessive wear. Good luck!
