BTW I'm a fan of budget C3 rubber bumper builds I think you can make a great car, as in better than chrome bumper originals, just not for 3K I've got 6,500 all in including car and looks and runs great!
I guarantee I'm not doing a 3K budget. I've likely spent double that if not more but I do not keep tract. I know I will insure it for about 25K when done. My present agreed value is 10k. I'm not building mine for the resale value. Its going to be a fun car to run around in.

I will have around 5k in parts in mine, including an engine rebuild and minus wheels and tires (1200$).

After selling some parts I'm at roughly $3300. I still have some parts to sell but I blew the budget with this big block but I'm happy. I will be putting on some aluminum pulleys from cvs racing. So far I am very happy with the quality for the price. Here is the link if anyone is interested: http://www.cvfracing.com/Big-Block-C.../bbcs23kit.htm

Finally got the engine in. Was going to wait to put it in with the transmission but couldn't help myself. Hopefully the 454 isn't too heavy for the motor mounts without the tranny hooked up. I was concerned with it tilting too much to the firewall so I placed some wood under the oil pan to even if out.

Thanks. Finally getting to the fun stuff... though trying to get the brake pedal and steering column back in was the most frustrating thing I've done on the vette so far.
