They probably sent you the 460# springs. Are the coils also thicker in wire diameter and wider spaced?

i just went through that replacing my front suspension(82), the new springs are thicker than the old ones, i was told that they flex less. i was concerned with the ride height but once i put them on the car had the same stance/height. now when i try to bounce the car it does not move at all.

You will appreciate the shorter springs when you put them back in. The original springs were a PITA to get in. The new ones went right in with no effort and no compressors. Mine were 550# and several inches shorter.

FWIW the aftermarket 550# springs are a very close match for the factory heavy duty suspension options. In some cases, virtually identical. The 460# aftermarket springs are the same spring with 2-3 extra coils.

I just did my 82 with moog springs. It was about a 4 inch difference in height on the bench but installed they were the same height

They must be indexed in the spring pockets correctly or you will see about an inch difference in height

Yes. The higher rate (460 or 550 lb/in) springs don't start out as the same free length as the softer(280 lb/in) stock springs. They should compress to about the same ride height.
