Default 82 monoleaf spring replace???

greetings again!

i am looking to restore the rear suspension(just did the front) i see that the kits do not include the spring. the car has 75k miles good stance and height. should the monoleaf be replaced or am i ok just with the bushings, shocks, etc..

thanks everyone.

The '82 came with a monoleaf spring. If it isn't damaged and doesn't look like there are any signs of delamination, just use what you have.

If you are in need of stiffening the suspension for road racing, etc., you might want to change from the 'soft' stock spring to one with a 300-330# rate. The stock unit only has about a 180# rate; it gives a smooth ride, rather than a firm one.

They're not supposed to wear out.

I have 225K miles on the original monoleaf spring with no sign of needing to be replaced. I say leave well enough alone.

I'm well over 100k and no problems at all! I would only change it if I needed better handling for the track but you can't beat the smooth ride
