Do you have the p/n for the autozone one you used? I am trying to find a mightylift locally to use. minimum order on that AVM site is $30 and the total only comes to $23.66 for the non SS ends.
Thanks
Tim.
Sure, here it is. Comes with 2 studs and 2 washers included. Dont know if this is the right or wrong shock for this application, but it's what I went with because it's one of the few they had that was the correct working length. It opens and closes my long hood real nice. Good luck.
My only concern would be the added stress on the fiberglass when closing the hood. How much effort does it take to close. No stress cracks from this? Looks nice.
What if you put one strut on each side? You could use lighter rate strut units. That would spread the stress around, and make it even less likely to crack anything.
Very cool idea.
Thought this was a good idea, and after I found out that '76 hood support wouldn't work with my '80 hood I decided there was no point waiting any longer. A note for anyone doing this swap, the difference in hood support mounting between different years will determine which support you need. I used MightyLift!/Universal lift support
Part Number: D95294 from Autozone which has a 17.2 inch extended length. Others may use a 14.5 inch version.
