Default EFE Actuator

I own a 1979 corvette with the standard L-48 engine. I bought this vehicle about two months ago and it is a work in progress. When I start the car (have a new rebuilt carb. installed) the EFE actuator start knocking very loud. When I hold the rod that connects to the passenger side exhaust manifold the sound almost goes away. Can I disconnect this actuator? I disconnected the tubing that goes to the emission system and nothing seems to be affected. Again, since I have a faulty actuator, I would like to remove it. Thanks for any help.

You can wire the valve in an open position or you need a spacer to replace it.

By the way, is that your blue 69 vette? It's really nice. I've owned a 1970, 74 and 80. Just got the hots for another so I bought a 79 project car.

Yes, there is a rod from the EFE down to the manifold to the valve your referring to.

How do you know if this valve is in the open position?
