454 oil pressure line picture
my car did not have the correct oil pressure line installed '71 454, I bought a reproduction and the copper line seems way to long, is it bent or curved before it attaches to the bracket on the head? any pictures or input welcomed.

Do you still use the bracket when you go to copper? Mine had already been replaced with a copper line when I got the car and the bracket was gone. The copper line just goes in a lazy curve to the firewall. It's been fine since I got the car back in '97.

72 shown; 71 is likely to be similar. Order the 71 AIM.

It is not straight. It is definitely bent out away from the engine like the bottom half of an "S" just before going vertical again up to the bracket you are referring to. I went out to take a pic but it is so tight in there I wasn't able to get a good clear shot.

I have the 71 AIM and that is what it shows also, I know it needs to make a slight bend at the bottom to line up with the bracket. but my copper line is 2 inches to long.
here is a picture from another forum members car and it looks like the line makes a big "S"

Yes, absolutely that sounds correct. If I were to straighten my copper line out it would likely seem to be about 2-3 inches too long. It is probably there to allow to fitment without getting to close to the exhaust manifold and to allow for movement/servicing adjacent parts without sharply kinking and closing off the line.

this is how I ended up doing mine, I made the bracket and had to cut 3inches off of the copper tube. my car has headers , that may make some difference
