can't find matching carpet:
Does anyone know where I can find the original material replacement carpet for a '78 Pace Car? Every sample I've been sent has too short a "fuzz". Not only that, the samples are mostly labeled "'81-'82 Silver", indicating to me that the carpet from those years was different from the Pace Car Silver of '78. My original is somewhat longer cut pile with not quite so tight a weave, sort of like short "****". Remember Disco and **** carpeting? Those were from the '70s. Most of the 'Vette suppliers are using ACC brand molded carpet, which is supposedly the NCRS approved material. However, It really doesn't matter who sanctions something if it doesn't match the original. I need to replace only the front set, but, from what I've seen so far, I'd have to do the whole car to get everything to match. Anybody else have this problem, or an answer to it? Thanks, everybody!!

corvette america sells a 78 pace car specific color but if you are worried about the length of "fuzz" i don't know if there's anywhere in the world that can get you what you are asking for

you should be able to find STOCK carpet for your c3 corvette. check the catalogs. I bought my ACC carpet from last detail corvette parts. I recommend replacing all the carpet as I did.

Nothing is going to be the same quality as the original
Length of fuzz...sorry but you may have to settle for whats out there
None of us like it but it is what it is.

Good point. From feet scuffing Id guess.
Maybe hire a hairdresser whos good with a brush blowdryer and some hairspray. Like teased hair in the 80s. lol

On a Positive Note, Maybe give ( Al Knoch interiors ) a line, & ask them if there is a better solution to this problem. I bought a new set of gray ( Not sure of the brand ) & resold it, for less money, to get rid of the not only bad fit, but the see through at the corners, when held up to the light. Maybe this is all that is available, The new carpet looked alright from a distance, but; I would like something better if possible. Afraid to buy any more carpet until mine is used up, even though it doesn't match. Have a great day. Gene

If you are concerned with judging, you want carpet which has factory appearance to include color fidelity, correct materials, bindings, heel pads, etc.
Try Al Knoch for your carpet. I agree you should replace front and rear to ensure an even color match.
