Default can not figure out what it is

Hi everyone! I'm a new member to the forum. I have a 77 vette that I'm restoring. I took the dash out and found a round metal flasher(?) type device(two times the size of a regular flasher). I can not find it in any of the books or drawings that I have. All of the other flashers are present and accounted for. No one I've talked too have any idea what it could be.I'm hoping someone could give me a hand in finding out what it is. Thank you for any help you can give me!!!!

maybe for the hazards, unplug it and see if flashers work. I personally am content without knowing what all the stuff under my dash operates, in time it all seems to crap out and I figure I'll deal with it then, and only if I have to!

Default what is it

Thanks!! All flashers(haz & dir) work. I have unplugged the(whatever it is) because it was getting warm and warmer to the touch with ignition switch off. I think I will reroute it to a position that I can get to once I put the dash back in. What do you think?

I don't know about the 77 vettes, but some vettes have two flashers and one if for the alarm system if I remember correctly.

Either do we. Post a pic of what you found and where you found it.

if its up above the tach and has an orange wire going to it i think its the courtesy light dimmer. if you disconnect it your interior lights will never go off. 1977 drawings dont show much on it. i think thats what it is.

It sounds like it could be a flux capacitor. Have you had the car up to 88 miles per hour yet?

Keep the shiny side up!

My exwife had one of those Flax Cupusiter thingys, it used to make her mouth do 88 mph every month for 4 weeks
But I think it's the light delay timer too, it's getting warm because it's running the lights [up close to the tacho??, was on my Bro's 77 anyhoo]
Nutha stab in the dark withoot piccy's
