Default rear end grinding

I have a grinding noise, sounds like metal on metal, from the right rear. I've pulled the tire off, brakes are fine, no gouges on caliper, U-joints are all tight and no movement. also there is a loud pop and binding in the rear end when the grinding starts. Its on my 69 and i had the front end up on jacks for about 4 weeks if that would cause anything???

Go to your GM dealer and get 2 bottles of GM posi lube conditioner . Put it in the rear end and go to a parking lot and do a half dozen tight figure eight turns.
I bet the noise goes away ! The clutch pack in the posi is probably dry .
