Rebuilt me steering control valve, some problems...
I rebuilt my control valve and changed the hoses. While the car was off I turned the steering wheel full clock at least 50 times and large air bubbles were coming out of the power steering tank with the fluid level going up and down. When I started the car, the power steering only works when turning right but does not work when turning left. Any thoughts???

Your pump and cylinder must be good since you have power one way but not the other.
Why did you rebuild the control valve? Was it just leaking or was this the original problem?
Do you have Jim Sheas papers?

Willcox's video gets 5 stars, so look at it again and see if you can identify a part that was installed incorrectly, also PM Jim Shea, he can say for sure what part being installed backwards could cause the problem.
JS has a rebuild paper in here.

Yeah i had similar but i read the control valve needs to be adjusted. The lock nut under the dust cap needs to be turned. Turn car on allow the wheel to roll over. goto the control valve and adjust the nut slowly one way, should only take couple turns before wheels will move. depending which way wheels locked depends which way nut needs turning. adjust nut till wheels slowly turn the other way (not to fast trust me with hands in way it will jerk and take your arm) at this point adjust it back a 1/4 turn and you'll be centered. This was the simple guide i read, can't remember where but this was the simple basics.

Calling Mr. Shea!
If it was a "centering adjustment" and you start the car the wheels will turn by themselves, then if you turn the steering wheel back the other way and let go it will turn by itself again.
Sidepiper bled the system but he only has power one way which makes me guess there is a problem in the control valve.
Lets see how this ends.

Yes all lines are hooked up right, triple checked. Also is it normal for fluid to push up in the power steering reservoir while turning the wheels when the car is off..?? Maybe I did get all of the air out of the system and this is normal. Just trying to eliminate things.

when turning your wheels, the assist cylinder moves in and out causing the surging, if you havent already, you need to take the wheels off , take the cylinder loose , and center it per the instructions (including the one posted from mid america) after you do that , you may find that the other issue no longer exists.
hope this helps
btw, what fluid did you refill it with?

Im done, Im going to take it off and send it off to get rebuilt as well as the assist cylinder. Never should have tried to rebuilt this myself. Adjusting the valve did nothing for my problem of no assist to the left. Thanks for everyone tried to help. Used gm power steering as suggested in Jim Shea btw.
