Bouncing speedometer needle
I just changed the speedometer cable. It cut the amount of bounce considerably, but at 70mph there is still a +/- 5mph bounce. Do I need to lube up the speedo gauge? Is there a correct method and lube for that?

Did you change the casing as well? If there is a short radius curve or kink in the casing, it might make the needle bounce. Also check the connection at the speedo head. It needs to be straight into the back and tight. Put white grease on the cable. Don't lube the gauge.
Good luck.

And don't put lube on the cable in the last 18-24" before the speedo head. Because the cable is wound-wire, lube tends to creep up the windings during operation. You do NOT want to get lube into the speedo head.

You should clean the housing out if you aren't replacing it.
Where'd you get the cable from? Some come greased, some don't.
I ran mine in and out of the housing a few times to try to get all the crud out. Once it started feeling pretty smooth I ran a light layer of grease over it following Willcox's instructions. Works GREAT now!

So I went and looked up the WilCox Corvette Speedo Lube Instructions. Where do you get the speedo lube they discuss?
I bought a brand new cable and housing.

Man, I can't even remember off the top of my head. They have a few threads on this subject.
I ordered some ATP cables from RockAuto and they came with lube so I used that. However, the cables themselves were WAY too long so I ended up re-using the stock stuff.
