Hello everyone. I have a 1969 vette 427/390 hp that i've had for 12 years but never worked on. My question is that I realize that the Qjet was the origional carb that came with this engine but a holly carb was offered as an option. The numbers on the carb are 6210-3, 4261. Is this the correct replacement? I'm having problems with my idle where the mixing screws have no reaction totally in or out. I don't want to spend the time or money getting this carb rebuilt if its not the correct one.

Welcome to the forum. I've never seen or heard anything indicating that your motor (same as mine, by the way) ever came from the factory with an optional Holley instead of a Q-Jet. Can you post the source where you got that info?

I too have a 69 427 390hp with a Holley 4165 800cfm spread-bore double pumper L6213. I am curious about waht information others have on this topic

No optional carbs offered for the L36, or any engine for 69. The 6210 is the Holley aftermarket "replacement" for the Q-Jet rated at 650CFM. Great carbs by the way. I've run them on 327's, 396's and even 427's and they really deliver.

The 6213 is the big block version of the 6210 and again, is an aftermarket replacement for the Q-Jet. This one is rated at 800CFM.

Thanks for the fast reply. I am having my carb looked at because of rough idle problems. I have not owned the car long so it probably just needs a good tune up. Hopefully just a carb kit and spark plugs.

I have that Holley carb but was told by Holley that my particular one was for 68 Corvette or Chevelle. Someday I should ebay it, because I've zero use for a spreadbore Holley carb. Check that, it's a 6211. The guy I bought it from had it on a jet boat with a 427 in it. I bought it for a Buick project, but then abandoned that thought when I realized what a bast*** step-child it was. Neat concept, poor execution.

GM never used a spreadbore Holley on any car produced.

Unfortunately, that website has some spelling and statistical errors, including where it lists a Holley carb for the L36 engine. As Lars said, that type of Holley was not used by Chevy on the L36 or any other engine. That doesn't mean it's not worth using though. I'll bet you can get it working properly, and probably for a good bit less than the cost of a correct Q-Jet to replace it.
