Carburetor Backfire in 1974 Stingray
I'm new to the forum and to the Corvette community. I have a 1974 Stingray with a new crate 350 engine and new Holley carburetor. A couple of weeks ago, the car started backfiring whenever I accelerated in first gear (or second gear if I start off slow). The noise is a "popping" sound from the carburetor. It doesn't backfire when I rev the engine in neutral. I used a vacuum gauge to adjust the air/fuel mix of the carb and set the idle speed at 8500 but it still backfires when I accelerate out of first gear. Any ideas? Could it be the spark plugs/wires? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I was getting a back-fire with my 74 and I changed the plugs and plug wires and it remedied the issue.
I also removed my Demon 800 and changed it to a Holley 600 and that also made a World of improvement.
