Default Engine gurus ! Cylinder #1 & #4 not that hot

Engine guys I need some tips !

Small block 350 with headers and Vortex heads
600 Holey Carb. Top grade wires and installed new plugs
Approx 10k on engine

Had the vette for 5 years and never winter driven of course.
Every Spring and Fall I do change the JETS with numbers 67's to 69's ..... and then fine tune the engine.(Canadian weather)

She came out last week and can't seem to tune her properly.
My friend who is pretty advanced with race engines is startin' to scratch his head

Once she's warmed up, we can hand touch the headers of #1 and #4 cylinder but certainly can't touch the others.

We've checked the resistance of the plug wires and all ok.
We've checked the cap dist and all seem ok...

What I can add is when I changed the plugs, all the ones on driver's side (Cyl 2-4-6-8) the plugs were grey obviously, too lean...
As for Cyl 1-3-5-7 they were rusty copper colour.(good sign)

When I changed the Jets, the inside of the bowl, a greenish coat was "peeling". That suprised us both. Possibly caused by fuel maybe ?

I purchased a new carb front bowl. Next move is to change the front bowl and do a good carb clean up.
The engine is in pretty good shape. No blue smoke observed.

Anyone with tips or comments ?

Right. On a Chevrolet V8, #1 is always LEFT side, front. And 3, 5 and 7 are behind that.
(Ford calls the right front #1.)

Hmmmm........it sounds like you changed the plugs, and now it won't run right. You don't have to be a rocket surgeon to start thinking the two things might have something to do with each other. Besides, when you start scratching your head, it's always a good idea to start at the beginning and check everything. Good luck,

Keep the shiny side up!

Default Fixed !

Holley carb front bowl.
The inside was peeling...
Ordered a new bowl and took carburator off for a good air pressure clean up.
Reinstalled everything et voila.
Easy to adjust and she ever s m o o t h !

Must of been clogged up with the bowl crap

Thanks all
