Hey Boy's can anyone tell me if these numbers are M20 or M21 ?

VIN 195704264 stamped on the Aluminum Housing, Casting 3925660, US Patent #30088336, POP 23 ?

There should be a letter after the 23 if it is a 1969-1974. A=M20. B=M21. C=M-22
If there is no letter at the end it is probably an older year Muncie.

HERE'S THE CAR it belongs to, but that transmission was assembled before they started using the indicator. The only way to tell would be to pull it and count the rings, and even that's not a perfect indicator since it could have been rebuilt. The only sure way to tell is to count the teeth.

However, that link above shows it to be an M20.

Look again. The 5 is an alpha S. The same stamp is on the pad of the original engine.
