Welcome!

You can convert your mechanical tach to electronic. I think most of the parts suppliers sell a conversion kit?

Perhaps convert to HEI and electronic tach using parts from a '75?

That's what the previous owner of my '73 did. I've since converted to Auto Meter gauges but the '75 tach w/ HEI worked well.

I'd like to make the same conversion to my 74, I think the best option for original look by far is the 75-77 tach. Unfortunately they seem to be rare and expensive.

You would need an HEI for the tach signal and I don't know how different the lettering is between 74 and 75 tachs. I bought a 75 tach on ebay that turned out to have a fried circuit board. I replaced the board with one from Willcox and transferred the face from the 72 tach to the 75 mechanism.

I would bet that The Corvette Shop in N.Y. (forum member paulywannafly) would have some tachs available. He had a very large parts collection when I visited his shop several years ago.
