cruise controll
I want to get the cruise control working again. However I am missing alot of the original items. I was thinking about an aftermarket cruise control which is electronically controlled verses the OEM vacum control. Any thoughts??? Al

My 1980 has original cruse a vac system which works perfectly , if it was me I would search out what you need to replace the oem style and I am betting the corvette is not the only car using the system so you should be able to get parts from diff model cars

what year is your car??? some cruise control parts are easier to find than others. Go to the parts section and post a WTB on your needed parts.

it can be done, but expensive if using a corvette one. You might have to take out the whole dash to put in the wiring harness since you have to drill a hole in the firewall. I don't know about after market ones. I put a 77 one in my 76 a few years ago. But the 77 has a cable that is a one year only part. Had to change up to a 80 , that I bought on this forum.

I bought a after market cruise control 5,6 years ago and I love it. Very simple to install. the hardest part was was snaking a wire down the steering collum. About 10 minutes =]:-) It will install on your turn signal just like stock. Call and talk to these people. Rostra Cruise Control #1-877-402-3944 or e-mail info@rostra.com

Wow, you guys are making this into such a large project. Current Cruise control systems use several differant type of systems to support the stepper drive motor. The easiest is RPM based. Basically the control system senses the selected speed/rpm, and will continue to keep that preset rpm by any electron stepper motor which is attatched to a secondary throttle cable. Hardly any differant than a current production system that uses the electronic signal from the transmission. I am really surpised many still believe the old Vacuum system is the best available. I guess points and condesors had their days also. Al
