Default About to start the big block swap.

Wish me luck! My very first step is taking off the hood and placing it in a "secure" location as to not damage by accident. After that, it's full speed ahead. it's a 498 hyd. roller with 10:1 cpr , forged internals ,781 heads.

Good luck man, should be fun.

Let me know if you need any BB parts, I used pulled mine out and swapped in a LS2.

I have a March billet serpentine system for a Big Block for sale if interested.

Good luck... I hope it doesn't turn into a body-off with all of the "while I am at it" stuff you will start thinking about.

Putting a big block in these cars is way less challenging than doing a LSx type swap since the small block and big block have the same mounting points. But you will wind up with similar challenges ( I am sure you realize) for things like Exhaust, power steering/water pump/ alternator accessory mounting, radiator/shroud and that hood you are trying to protect. You might find yourself in new hood land unless you run a real low intake.

Keep us posted with some progress pictures.

Good luck, you'll enjoy the results. I had no problem doing that to my 73 and had alot of fun doing it but then I'm just that way

More good luck wishes here.

When my hood comes off, it goes in the house. Carpet is softer than concrete.

Thanks guys! I will post up some pics of the progress . I just love the looks of my c3 corvette and now with a big block I am going crazy over the car. I want to just bring it into the house but the next best thing is the garage. Managed to take the hood off with just me and my 15 year old , (My 15 yr old girl. ) She did good today. She'll get to drive it to school one of this days.

I will be watching this. I am also doing the same, but will not be starting the actual install for about another month. I still have a few more parts to collect.

Good luck. Im putting the finishing touches on the big block install in my 76.

Hardest part was paying for the pulleys and brackets. The actual work wasn't bad at all.

Let me know if you need pics of anything.

Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, it looks like your Strip Dominator has had a little plenum work done.

Your eyes don't deceive you . I had run this intake with a 4500 dominator, still debating as to what cfm carb I'm going with.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Big Block Chevys!, I'm sure you'll love it.

Be careful with the timing, iron heads and 10:1 CR will dictate a pretty conservative timing, unless you run a high octane gas.

I'm at 4k ft elevation , that will play a role in that.
