Thats why we run bigger cams

Nice. I see a bit of grinding work on the heads as well. Did you port them yourself?

You won't have to worry much about your hood if it's the factory one. It won't fit with that intake.

Good Luck btw.

All the work on this build was done by a local machinist .

And with the headers bolted on. That is first. Good job if ya got it in. Any issues mating the trans to the engine with the middle hook on the intake lift plate?

Thanks guys. The motor felt like it wouldn't set on the motor mounts at first. Kept at it and finally got it in with the first hole on the lift plate .I took the passenger header off to finally get the motor in.

Default Update

Got the engine in . Now to rewire the spaghetti wires all over. I also need to connect the fuel lines and mallory reg. I've got it temporarily connected to get it started and hear the engine roar.

One thing that happened was , I kept getting a popping out the headers which was scaring my wife every time it happened. I'm thinking maybe a lean misfire? Well , found out I crossed the wires . Weird thing is at the very end I took in a few beers and what supposed to be a 4-7 swap turned out to be a 5-7 swap. Put them correctly and no more popping.

The old 5-7 plug wire swap has bitten quite a few people over the years, though I'm sure that I've never done it. LOL
Congrats on getting to hear it fire up.

looks good. Was wondering is that the electric fuel pump you have mounted next to the alternator ? If it is, Just an Fyi, electric fuel pumps are better pushers not pullers.

That's actually a holley fuel pump regulator with a home made "plug" . The regulator is coming off for a mallory one.

I have a complete 454 fan to tran, just pulled from a 78 truck. Will any of those brackets work in my 75 swap? I'm hearing a lot of different info, but appreciate it all. Thanks

well if ya look at scrappy76 previous pic, that is a long passenger car/truck style alternator mounted on the right with a long standard rotation water pump.... im almost sure he cut the notch in the frame for the longer crank pulley... not a problem for me some just cringe, but you do what ya want i did....

Im very familiar with the long pump and brackets as i just sold one set for a truck BB conversion.. by scappys pic i think the ps and the a/c compressor will work... electric fans are a must..... put the BB in and see what happens..... good luck.. im going with a serpentine on mine...

You have me confused with ( big 454 block chevy ) He has the vette above that is yellow and using the long water pump version. I myself went with a short water pump system and using aftermarket pulleys and brackets that actually are in the late 60s era.
